Choosing The Right Jewelry Display
74Your jewelry display can make or break a lot of your sales believe it or not. It’s all about appearance and ease of shopping. You can’t just throw you’re jewelry in a tray or on a table and expect people to want to buy it. It not only has to be priced right, but it has to look pretty as well; it needs to look cared for, it needs to look as if this piece of jewelry deserves to be on display.
Choosing the right display and how to display your jewelry is a very important thing to think about right from the get go. If it helps, before your next displaying, have a friend take a look at your display and the way things are laid out and ask them if it would get them to stop and take a look if they were passing by? This is a smart thing to do ahead of time because you can work with your friend to figure out the best layout for ease of shopping. To bundle jewelry together that makes sense or goes well together so you can upsale easily.
Necklace Display
If you have a really nice expensive necklace then the best jewelry display would be a single neck stand and believe it or not, color does matter. If you have a dark necklace make sure you get a white or light display stand. If you have a light or white necklace make sure you get a black neck stand. You have to make that one piece of jewelry pop as much as possible. This applies to all jewelry display stands, not just for necklaces.
If you have multiple necklaces that you’d like to put on one display you should get a chain display. These are usually best to display necklaces with a simple chain and a single charm that are usually similar in size. This way the display doesn’t get too bulky or overshadowed by one piece of jewelry.
Bracelet Display
Bracelets and watches should always be displayed on a
bracelet or watch display, never in a tray.
The only time I believe this rule doesn’t apply is if a bracelet is part
of a set or would go great with a particular necklace. Then it is an ok situation to break the rule
because it can lead to an up-sell. Bracelets and watches look best in their natural form, which would be how it appears on your wrist.
Earing Display
Earrings can be a little bit tricky. If you have earrings that come on a backboard, I usually discourage taking them off of that simply for the fact that the price tag is generally on the backboard. You don’t want someone asking you all the time, how much are these? The only time you should remove them from the backboard is if there is a way that you can nicely tag them with a price. Unless you can do this or you can bundle earrings together by price and clearly display the price, display them on the backboards in a nice clean display tray. If the earrings are long, make sure you get an earring display that will let the earrings dangle nicely without covering up the next layer of earrings. Usually the best method is to put the smaller earrings at the top of the display and the longer ones at the bottom, if there is enough room for them to hang down. Otherwise your long earrings may need their own earring display.
Additional Display Options
If you have some really nice jewelry sets that you want to display you should purchase a combination earring, necklace and pendant display. Should you need a more economical way to display all your jewelry, get yourself a few display trays. They are easy to transport as they are easily stackable and are very versatile. You can put just about any type of jewelry in the trays and they are also great for showcasing jewelry sets. Also, if you’ve never purchased display trays before make sure to check if they come with some sort of insert whether it be foam, velvet or any other type of soft material. You do not want your jewelry laying on the hard surface of the display tray as it will not only scratch the tray but will also scratch your jewelry. Plus, the inserts make everything look nicer and feel nicer when the customer goes to pick up pieces.
Don't Let Your Display Overshadow The Jewelry
There are so many options out there when it comes to jewelry
displays. Determine what your budget is,
gauge how much jewelry you are going to display and what you are trying to
accomplish. It’s also very important to
remember that there are a lot of fancy and cute jewelry displays out there, but
you don’t want your customers to be more interested in how cute your display is
and not your jewelry. Keep it nice, keep
it clean and keep it simple. Do some online research to find the best type of jewelry display for your situation and budget.

This is actually just want I needed. Our daughter in law has just started making jewelry and we've been wondering how to display it.
